incredible shrinking people

so now my people are getting up early almost everyday. some days it's really early. i like those days the best because they cover me up with the duvet or i go and find the warmest spot on the bed. yes, i go back to sleep. who wouldn't? it's practically night when they leave.

but more times than not, they wake me up early! of course, they fill my bowl with chicken and crunchies which is always a good thing and they play ball for a while, but then it's outside in the cold for me to "empty out". they're gone for a while and when they come back, it's rush time. but i bring them the ball anyway. they love to play while they get ready for work.

it seems like there's more food making, but unfortunately it's not the food i like to eat. the people are eating all sorts of green stuff i can't stand. and in the morning, they don't have toast anymore. they eat some white stuff that looks like paste. i gotta get over to grandma's and grandpa's for a real breakfast with buttered toast soon.

they're always putting stuff in plastic containers and bringing big bags of stuff home. so far i haven't seen too many good things coming out of the bags. well, maybe those turkey pepperette things. but i get the feeling my people are sick of them. mom's the only one who is eating them and most of the time i eat most of each stick.

it looks like my people are changing. for one thing, they are not nearly as comfortable to sleep on. they are starting to have bones sticking out in all the wrong places. but that's ok, like i said, i get more time on their pillows while they're away in the mornings.

back to normalish

so everyone's home now. but i've noticed that my people are not eating all the good things they used to. it's a good thing that i like fish because my people are eating a lot of cat food these days. and they aren't sharing with me quite as much for some reason. it's a good thing grandma bought me lots of treats for christmas. otherwise, i might start wasting away.

other than that, they are back at work so i get my naps. they have been getting up quite early on some days, but that's fine with me. i just go ahead and find the warmest spot on the bed, then go back to sleep until they come and wake me up for breakfast, ball and a walk. not necessarily in that order. then when they leave, i either go and sleep in the office or on one of the landings until someone gets home and is ready to play ball. i have a very nice life.

dawg gone

well, so one of my people hasn't been here for about a week. that's not true, he came home for a couple hours, packed up a big bag and left again. all these suitcases got me excited: i thought i was going to grandma's house and i was anticipating the roasts, cheese and other delicious treats i don't get at home.

no such luck. mom's here. and she stayed up really late the first night dad was gone. or should i say early since she was at the computer until 3 am. doesn't she know i need my beauty sleep?

well, i guess i shouldn't complain. she does let me get a lot of sleep during the day. and actually she's been good about playing ball when i want.

i even got her to play ball last night at 11. dad would never do that. i think she was feeling guilty since she went shopping all afternoon with her friend, came home, fed and walked me, then went to the friend's house for dinner and a movie. the way i look at it, that's good guilt!

today it looks like she'll be around. it's 9:30 and she's in sweats, so she's not going to work. doesn't mean she won't be working today though. but that's fine with me. she'll feed me plenty of cookies to keep me quiet. it's going to be a great day, i can just tell.

no resolutions needed

so my people may need to make new years fitness resolutions, but not me. i exercise 2, 3, 4, sometimes even more every day. i'm in great shape for a bulldawg half my age.

my sport of choice is ball. it doesn't really matter what kind of ball, tennis, nerf, soccer, rubber, golf, they're all good. delicious, in fact. some are easier than others to destroy.

but my favourite ball is an orange road hockey ball. i think it's a texture thing. and it's easy to hold in my mouth and still breathe. i run pretty fast when i'm playing ball so that's important.

there's another ball that i really like -- it is clear plastic and has little spikes all over it. it fits neatly in my cheek while i run. it's excellent for chewing too because it massages my gums. my people said it's called a massage ball. go figure.

bed hawg dawg

so apparently now i'm a bed hawg.

those crazy people i live with don't seem to realize that we live in canada and it gets cold in the house at night even though i have a thick fir coat. they have blankets and each other so what's a girl supposed to do?

well, let me tell you, it's best to wait until they're asleep. then i snuggle right up and push as hard as i can. the female is a bit lighter so it's easy to get plenty of space. plus she feels sorry for me if i'm cold. the other night, i managed to push her into the guestroom and have a whole 1/2 of a king sized bed to myself. hahaha!

now the male, he's a different story. i just scratch the bed and he picks me up in his sleep, like my own private elevator. sweet! then, before he settles back under the covers, i steal his spot. well, that doesn't work very often, so then i go and snuggle right up and put my head on his head. or neck. or butt. or whatever seems to be comfiest. he complains a lot about his sore necks. i guess my head is heavy.

anyway, the female woke me up. the people went to bed early because they are going to the gym while i sleep in and wait for their return – and my breakfast, but she couldn't sleep so she went to my room (the office) and wrote some ads or something. when she got back into bed, she woke me up, so now i'm the one who can't sleep. sheesh!
