cake and cameras

i have had a hard time catching up on my sleep this week.

going to grandma and grandpa's was great. mom got most of the presents for once -- i, of course, got a ball from grandma. mom got a big bag of stuff, looked like mostly clothes. she also got cards and then there was cake so i figured out that it was her birthday. i think she is 259 or so, although she doesn't look a day over 210.

my birthday is coming up soon. i will be 9 in people years which is 63 in dog years. personally i feel around 35, except for my hips. they are feeling better these days but they slow me down somewhat. grandpa just had knee replacement surgery and he seems to have sped up a bit.

i try to avoid surgery as much as possible. i have had several operations and after all of them i seem to wake up with stitches in a funny place and missing large patches of fur. not an especially good look for me.

anyway, back to my birthday. i've been told i'll spend it at grandma and grandpa's and that there will be steak for me to eat. sweet! just the way i'd plan my birthday myself.

after i visited grandma and grandpa, my friend reesa came over to visit me and eat dinner with my humans. they laughed and talked and had a good old time.

luckily sunday was a relaxing day so i could recover from all of the commotion because then on monday all the people with the tv cameras came back and i had to go to wade's house. not fair! i still can't understand why they didn't want me on the bathroom show.

am i not the most important member of the family? hmmph!

once they were done filming with sound i got to come back and of course everyone was happy to see me. i did my best to make everyone feel happy and played some ball, but i was so exhausted by the end, all i could do is wag my tail. these people must not get to be around many bulldogs because they kept oohing and ahhing over me. but if they were so charmed, why didn't i get to be on the show?

when i got home i noticed my people put the patio furniture out. mighty optimistic of them considering we live in canada and it was not even april. hopefully it doesn't snow on it. but it's actually been pretty nice and i've seen a lot more of my friends from the neighbourhood outside.

the yorkie contingent was out in full force on friday evening without their coats and boots. they are the barbie dolls of the dog world, aren't they? and now there are even more of them. in addition to milo and leggo there's che. yes, as in guevera. i'm sure he's rolling in his grave after having a yorkie named after him. a bulldog, sure, but a yorkie?
